Girls fall to Wrightstown at home

By Greg Seubert

Wrightstown handed the Clintonville girls’ basketball team a 69-27 loss in January.

The rematch on Feb. 17 had the same result.

Leah Lemke connected on seven three-pointers and scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Tigers to a 59-33 win on the Truckers’ home court.

Five of Lemke’s threes came in the first half, as the Tigers took a 31-18 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Clintonville cut the lead to 11 points three times early in the second half, but never got any closer.

Lauren Zwirschitz led the Truckers with 16 points.

Clintonville finished sixth in the North Eastern Conference with an 8-10 mark, while Wrightstown finished tied for second with Fox Valley Lutheran at 15-3.

The Truckers also wrapped up the regular season with a 9-15 record and received a home game for the first round of the WIAA state tournament.

Clintonville, a No. 8 seed, will host No. 9 Northland Pines at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in a Division 3 regional quarterfinal. The winner of that game will head to Freedom Friday, Feb. 25, to face the top-seeded Irish at 7 p.m. in a regional semifinal.
