In the opening regional matchup of the WIAA softball playoffs, the third-seeded Clintonville Truckers needed an extra inning to take down the sixth-seeded Weyauwega-Fremont Warhawks at home on May 27.

In the second inning, the Truckers had an opportunity to get a run on the board as the bases were loaded but left three runners stranded.

In the fourth inning, there was another chance for the Truckers to score with a runner on third, but they couldn’t cash in as they were left stranded.

Ava Kasson took it upon herself to try and get a run for Clintonville as she doubled and then, during the next at-bat rounded third but was thrown out at home.

The Warhawks allowed themselves to score in the sixth inning but stranded two runners. In the bottom of the sixth, the Truckers stranded two runners of their own.

The game went into extra innings scoreless, but it didn’t take long for the game to come to a dramatic finish as Abby Tate off RBI to give the Truckers a 1-0 win and advance them to the regional final.
