Waupaca, Weyauwega-Fremont and Hortonville’s volleyball teams will open WIAA tournament play with a home match.
Waupaca will see a familiar opponent in the opening round of the WIAA State Girls’ Volleyball Tournament, as the fourth-seeded Comets will host No. 13 Clintonville at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in a Division 2 regional quarterfinal match.
Weyauwega-Fremont is a No. 3 seed in a Division 3 sectional bracket and will host No. 14 Omro at 7 p.m. Oct. 17.
Hortonville is a No. 3 seed in its Division 1 bracket and will host No. 14 Green Bay East at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19.
Shawano received the No. 1 seed in Waupaca and Clintonville’s sectional, followed by Oconto Falls, Mosinee, Waupaca, Merrill, Tomahawk, Lakeland, Medford, Antigo, Northland Pines, Rhinelander, Menominee Indian, Clintonville and Marinette. The sectional final match is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Merrill High School.
New London is also in Division 2 and received a No. 14 seed. The Bulldogs will head to Luxemburg to face third-seeded Luxemburg-Casco at 7 p.m. Oct. 17. Xavier is the top-seeded team in the sectional, followed by Fox Valley Lutheran, Luxemburg-Casco, Freedom, Notre Dame Academy, Winneconne, Sturgeon Bay, Seymour, Chilton, Wrightstown, Kiel, Denmark, Little Chute, New London and Two Rivers. The sectional final will be played at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at Wrightstown High School.
St. Mary Catholic is the top seed in Weyauwega-Fremont’s sectional, followed by Bonduel, Weyauwega-Fremont, Shiocton, Amherst, Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Oconto, Crivitz, Manawa, Peshtigo, Coleman, Crandon, Iola-Scandinavia and Omro. In other matches scheduled for Oct. 17, No. 9 Manawa will head to No. 8 Crivitz and No. 4 Shiocton will host No. 13 Iola-Scandinavia. The sectional final will be played at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at Crivitz High School.
Appleton North received the No. 1 seed in Hortonville’s sectional, followed by Bay Port, Hortonville, Kaukauna, Green Bay Southwest, De Pere, Kimberly, West De Pere, Appleton East, Pulaski, Green Bay Preble, Appleton West, Ashwaubenon, Green Bay East and Green Bay West. Kimberly High School will host the sectional final match at 7 p.m. Oct. 28.
