Scoring points has become a problem lately for the Amherst girls’ basketball team.
Five days after Bonduel held the Falcons to 13 points, Weyauwega-Fremont outscored Amherst 32-6 in the first half Jan. 14 and went on to post a 49-21 Central Wisconsin Wisconsin-East win on the Warhawks’ home court.
The Falcons took an early 4-0 lead on baskets from Hailie Portmann and Alexis Wierzba. Olivia Witkowski scored the Warhawks’ first eight points and started a 17-0 run. That run gave the Warhawks a 17-4 lead, and the Falcons never got any closer the rest of the way.
The Warhawks led by as many as 34 points in the second half.
Witkowski scored 14 of her game-high 19 points in the first half, and teammate Avery Samz also finished in double figures with 11.
Wierzba led the Falcons with five points.
