Manawa’s return to the Central Wisconsin Conference-East for boys’ basketball means the Wolves have two matchups this season with Weyauwega-Fremont.
If the rematch is as entertaining as the first meeting, fans of both teams will want to mark Friday, Jan. 20, on their calendar.
Weyauwega-Fremont held off the Wolves down the stretch Dec. 9 for a 61-59 win.
Both teams also had CWC-East games Dec. 6. Weyauwega-Fremont dropped a 76-74 decision to Shiocton, while Manawa picked up a 70-62 win over Menominee Indian.

Weyauwega-Fremont led by as many as 12 points in the first half, but the Wolves closed the half with an 11-3 run to cut the deficit to 27-23.
The lead changed hands four times before the Warhawks eventually built a 56-47 lead. However, Nathan Gorman’s three-pointer gave the Wolves a 59-58 lead with 2:30 remaining in the game.
Bryce Dittmann gave the Warhawks the lead for good with just under a minute to go and Gorman missed a shot with five seconds remaining that would have tied the game.
Gorman led all scorers with 24 points, while Trevor Krueger added 15 and Tanner Nienhaus scored 10.
Ethan Marquette led the Warhawks with 16 points, while Jaden Rice and Brayden Arndt added 13 and 12, respectively.
The Warhawks didn’t have an answer for Shiocton’s Dawson Schmidt, who led all scorers with 42 points.
The teams headed into the locker room at halftime tied at 38-38.
Rice led the Warhawks with 27 points, while Arndt and Dittmann added 17 and 10, respectively.
Gorman scored more than half of the Wolves’ points in a CWC-East win over the Eagles.
He finished with 37 points, while Krueger added 12.
Weyauwega-Fremont and Manawa have CWC-East games scheduled for later this week. Manawa will host Shiocton Thursday, Dec. 15, while the Warhawks will head to Bonduel Friday, Dec. 16. Tipoff for both games is set for 7:15 p.m.
