The 2024-2025 basketball season has already been one for the books as Olivia Witkowski earned the all-time scoring record for the Weyauwega-Fremont Warhawks early in her senior campaign.

Olivia has over 1,500 points and counting, leading the Central Wisconsin-East conference in scoring with 22.2 points per game. She has finished each of her first three seasons on varsity as either the conference leader in scoring or rebounding and she has been named All-Conference in all three years, including the last two seasons as a First-Team selection.

The daughter of Jerry and Nicole, Olivia began playing basketball in the first grade as her father helped her get involved in the sport and her mother has provided a steady foundation for Olivia outside of athletics, “I’m incredibly thankful for all of my coaches and teammates, but the one who stands out the most to me is my dad. He’s not only taught me everything I know about basketball but he’s also been my constant source of support and encouragement. From helping me improve my skills to calming my nerves before big games, he’s always been there, and his belief in me has made all the difference. My dad’s not just a coach—he’s my mentor, my motivator and my biggest fan. I owe so much of my success to him, and I can’t imagine my basketball journey without his guidance. I also want to give a huge shout-out to my mom, who has been a key figure in my life, both as a coach and a constant motivator. My mom, Nicole Witkowski, has been there to teach me the ropes of everything outside of basketball—whether it’s handling school, managing stress, or balancing my life outside of sports. She’s the one who keeps me grounded, encouraging me to stay focused and reminding me to stay true to myself. Her love and support have been unwavering, and she’s always been my biggest cheerleader, even during the tough moments. I’m so grateful for everything she does for me, and I couldn’t ask for a better role model to look up to. She has shown me what it means to be strong, resilient, and loving, and I carry that with me every day, both on and off the court.”

A three-sport athlete, Olivia has found what basketball means to her. “Until my junior year, I always said whichever sport was in season was my favorite, whether it was basketball, volleyball, or softball. It wasn’t until then that I realized basketball had become my true passion.”

The competitive nature and camaraderie of basketball have kept Olivia motivated to stick with the sport, “My favorite part about basketball is the challenge to get better, as well as the opportunity to lead and spend time with my teammates. I’ve stuck with it for so long because I’m very competitive and love pushing myself to improve, both through workouts and on the court. It’s also become a special opportunity to spend time with my dad, who is the best coach and has always supported me along the way.”

Olivia has decided where she will continue her college basketball career: “The early recruiting process has been interesting, as I was being recruited for both softball and basketball. Balancing the pressures and decisions was challenging, but I am extremely thankful for the experience and had a lot of fun throughout. Now that the recruiting process is over, I am excited to have committed to UW-Eau Claire Women’s Basketball and look forward to this next chapter in my athletic career.”
