Republican candidates won by overwhelming margins on ballots across Waupaca County.
County voters chose Donald Trump over Kamela Harris by a margin of 20,057 to 9,932 votes.
Statewide, Trump received 1.688 million votes, defeating Vice President Harris by 49.7% to 48.8%.
Wisconsin gave Trump 10 of the 277 Electoral College votes he garnered to win the 2024 presidential election.
Waupaca County citizens cast 19,081 votes for Republican Eric Hovde, while giving 9,999 votes to U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, the Democratic incumbent.
Statewide, Baldwin was re-elected with 49.4% of the vote, while Hovde received 48.5%.
Republican Tony Wied won both Waupaca County and Congressional District 8 in his bid against Democrat Kristen Lyerly.
Wied garnered 19,399 votes to Lyerly’s 10,161 votes in Waupaca County. He won the district with 57.3% to 42.7%.
Although Waupaca County is represented as part of three different state Senate districts, only Senate District 2, which includes the Clintonville area, had an election this year.
Republican Eric Wimberger defeated Democrat Kelly Peterson districtwide by a vote of 67,870 to 37,391. and by 2,373 to 1,246 in Waupaca County.
As a result of redistricting, there were four state Assembly races in Waupaca County.
In Assembly D6, representing the Clintonville area, Republican Elijah Behnke defeated Shirley Hinze 21,830 to 10,558 districtwide and 2,429 to 1,175 countywide.
In Assembly D56, representing the New London area, Republican Dave Murphy was elected with 21,988 total votes against 10,012 for Democrat Emily Tseffos. In Waupaca County, Murphy won 4,102 to 1,960.
State Rep. Kevin Petersen won re-election against Ruth Caves, a Democrat, and Dylan Testin, running as an independent in Assembly D57, which represents most of southern Waupaca County, including Waupaca, Weyauwega, Fremont, Ogdensburg and Manawa, as well as nearly all of Waushara County and parts of three other counties.
Petersen received a total of 21,988 votes, Caves 10,012, Testin 3,235.
In Waupaca County, Petersen received 9,808 votes, Caves, 4,399, Testin 1,025.
Assembly D87 represents northeastern Waupaca County, including Iola, Scandinavia and Big Falls, as well as parts of Marathon, Portage and Shawano counties.
Republican Brent Jacobson won the race with a total of 23,853 votes against Democrat William Switalla with 12,260.
Jacobson garnered 3,314 votes in Waupaca County, while Switalla got 1,351.
A referendum on whether to change language in the state constitution allowing only citizens to vote passed statewide with a 70.5% majority statewide and countywide by a vote of 23,109 yes and 5,316 no.
