Waupaca and Denmark went head-to-head in Ashwaubenon at Capitol Credit Union Park on April 5 as the Comets suffered their first defeat this season.
An infield single for Denmark’s Ozzie Enz drove in the first run of the game in the first inning of play.
Aaron Wolff would tie up the game for the Comets with a standup double to make it 1-1 in the second inning.
In the bottom of the third inning, Jacob Durrant laid down a bunt that brought Cael Prey from second base to third, and a misthrow to first brought Prey home to make the score 2-1.
Max Dolski gave the Comets a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning as he hit a triple that got him home for a run after an errant throw advanced him for a score.
In the top of the fifth inning, Denmark took over as they loaded the bases and scored on a walk, back-to-back wild pitches, and a two-run RBI making it a 7-3 deficit for Waupaca.
A run in the sixth and seventh capped off the 9-3 victory for Denmark.
