Waupaca Garden Walk offers art tiles

The Waupaca Area Garden Walk and Art Stroll is offering a limited edition art tile series created by Mary Gordon, of Piping Cat Studio.

The series is inaugurated with "Anemones, 2011," a 5.5-inch-square decorative art tile, rendered in low relief in three color variations. The tiles were sculpted, molded, pressed and glazed by hand, and will be available with pink, blue or beige backgrounds.

Each year a new tile will be offered with a common Wisconsin garden flower depicted, following the alphabet. Next year, "Bleeding Hearts, 2012" will be available.

The tile series will be composed of various sized tiles throughout the years to better enable a collector to display them in montage form. However, the glazes and rendering style will remain compatible. The tiles are decorative only and are not meant for food service.

Tiles will be for sale after June 10 at Piping Cat Studio and at each of the participating gardens on June 25. The cost per tile is $30. Half of the proceeds from the sale of the tiles will be added to the Garden Walk's donation to be given in 2011 to the hospital's Riverside Reflection Garden.
