Cold shooting and turnovers became a double whammy for the Clintonville girls’ basketball team in its North Eastern Conference rematch with Waupaca.
The Truckers also didn’t have an answer for Hailey Bechard, who scored a game-high 27 points and helped lead the Comets to a 71-34 win Feb. 7 at Clintonville High School.
The Comets scored 23 of the game’s first 25 points before the Truckers closed the first half with an 8-2 run and trailed 25-10 at the break.
Waupaca kept its double-digit lead in the second half, and the Truckers never got any closer than 14 points. The Comets also scored the game’s final 15 points.
Amelia Koran came off the bench to score 12 points for Waupaca. Ava Widdel also finished in double figures with 11 to go with Bechard’s 27.
Zoey Ferg led the Truckers with 14 points.
