Two area boys’ soccer teams will open the WIAA state tournament with a home game, while two others have to travel.
Hortonville received a No. 6 seed in Division 1 and will open tournament play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at No. 3 Wisconsin Rapids.
The winner of that game will play at No. 2 Stevens Point or host No. 7 Neenah at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, for a regional championship. Neenah and Stevens Point will play Oct. 19.
Waupaca and New London have a bye in the first round and will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 in a matchup of Division 3 teams. Waupaca received a No. 2 seed, while the Bulldogs are a No. 7 seed.
The winner of that game will play No. 3 Mosinee or No. 6 Shawano for a regional championship Saturday, Oct. 23, at a time to be determined.
Clintonville received a No. 8 seed in Division 4 and will host No. 9 Peshtigo at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 21.
The winner will face No. 1 Sturgeon Bay, No. 16 Lourdes Academy/Valley Christian or No. 17 Gresham/Bowler for a regional championship Oct. 23 at a time to be determined.
