Therese M. Spredemann, 50, Weyauwega, was charged with a fifth drunken driving offense.

On the evening of July 7, Weyauwega Police officer Adam Rogge was on patrol when he observed a small pickup truck swerve within its lane, then cross over into the wrong lane while making a turn.

According to the criminal complaint, Rogge activated his lights and siren to pull the vehicle over, but it failed to stop.

At one point, the female driver put her hand out the window and waved as if motioning the officer to pass her, according to the criminal complaint.

The truck then drove into a parking lot, with the officer pulling up behind her.

Rogge reported the driver then attempted to back into a parking stall, directly toward the squad car. He was able to maneuver out of the way to avoid a collision.

Rogge asked the driver, identified as Spredemann, why she failed to stop, and she answered that she wanted to get her vehicle home to avoid having to pay a towing fee, according to the criminal complaint.

Spredemann has four prior drunken driving conviction between 1998 and 2006.
