Wheels on Werner Allen kicks off Fall Fest weekend

Posted

NEW LONDON — Classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, and a solemn 9/11 remembrance will set the stage as the New London Area Chamber of Commerce, New London Lions Club, and Wolf River Classic Chevy Club host Wheels on Werner Allen on Friday, Sept. 11.
The annual car show serves as the kickoff for New London’s Fall Fest weekend. Running from 5 to 8 p.m., the event is free for both spectators and vehicle participants.

Bring your favorite ride
The show is open to all makes and models of collector cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, and UTVs. There is no advance registration and no vehicle entry fee.
The first 150 vehicles will receive a commemorative dash plaque, while the first 25 motorcycles will receive an event patch.

Vehicle staging begins at 4 p.m. Organizers note that all show vehicles must enter Hatten Park from West Jennings Street. Vehicles will remain behind barricades in Hatten Park until members of the Wolf River Classic Chevy Club guide them onto Werner Allen Road.
After 4 p.m., show vehicles will not be able to access Werner Allen Road without entering through Hatten Park. For spectator safety, all participating vehicles must remain parked until the event concludes at 8 p.m.

Sept. 11 tribute
Because this year’s kickoff falls on Sept. 11, community members are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. Special touches are planned throughout the evening to remember the lives lost, honor first responders, and recognize those impacted by the events of 9/11.

Food, music and raffles

Attending without a vehicle offers plenty of entertainment as well. Spectators can view the vehicles along Werner Allen Road, enter raffles, and enjoy music from James at Yo DJ Entertainment. Sound speakers will be placed further down the road this year to ensure music reaches attendees throughout the event grounds.
The New London Lions Club will begin serving food and beverages at 4 p.m. Organizers remind attendees that carry-ins are not permitted.
Wheels on Werner Allen is a rain-or-shine event. Alcohol is permitted throughout the event grounds on Werner Allen Road and within Hatten Park, but no alcohol is allowed on school property. Temporary lighting provided by Waupaca County will assist as the event winds down.
