WIAA Individual State Wrestling Wraps Up

MADISON-In the WIAA individual State Tournament, local wrestlers took to the mats in Madison, competing in different divisions, and there were several surprise finishes along the way.

The most surprising finish was New London’s 152-lb senior Hailie Krueger, who was in pursuit of her fourth state championship, lost in the semifinal match in her bracket and finished in third place.

Sophomore Preston Krueger outperformed his 10th seeding in the 215-lb bracket as he finished third place for the Bulldogs, defeating Nathaniel Grooms from Lake Country Lutheran by pinfall in the third-place match.

New London’s William Christopher also finished in an All-State placement at sixth in the 132-lb bracket.

Clintonville senior Keela Deering took fifth in the Girl's 235-lb division as she finished the season with All-State status.
