Turnovers lead to points for Manawa

The Manawa girls’ basketball team improved its record to 3–7 Jan. 3 with a 69-35 win over Gresham.

Manawa’s defense forced several turnovers in the first half. Lexi Hedtke scored 14 of her game-high 21 points for Manawa and the Wolves headed to the locker room at halftime with a 37-18 lead.

Manawa outscored Gresham 32–17 in the second half behind nine points from Marilyn Klatt.

Cassie Arndt had 12 points for the Wolves, while Maddie Haffner led Gresham with 12.

The Wolves hosted Bonduel Jan. 10 before traveling to Amherst Friday, Jan. 13, for their first matchup of the season with the Falcons.

After losing a bet with his players, Manawa girls' baskeball coach Terry Johnson dressed as Buddy the Elf for the Wolves' game against Gresham.
