Ruth H. Woodward, age 92 of Stevens Point, WI passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Willow Brooke Point Senior Living.
Ruth was born on October 14, 1931; daughter of the late August and Julia (Goter) Weber, born on a farm in the middle of nowhere, North Dakota. Both of her parents were born in Germany and that’s the language she grew up speaking. Ruth had vivid memories of being a child during WWII, and what she and her parents endured because they were German.
She met her late husband Belvin in the 50s when she applied for a secretarial position at his propane business in Carrington, ND. They married in 1958 in Grand Forks, ND, where both their daughters were born (Pamela 1960, and Paula 1961). They then moved to Jamestown, ND, and in 1973 moved to Waupaca, WI. Ruth and Belvin were very entrepreneurial in Waupaca and built the Kings Table restaurant, started a real estate company, a gift shop and many other ventures. Simultaneously Ruth was the manager of the Waupaca office for the Water and Sewage Department.
Ruth is survived by her daughters Paula Kolinski (Rick) of Stevens Point; Pam Woodward of Madison; grandson Benjamin Howes (Amy), Sacramento, CA, granddaughter Rael Gilmore (Aaron), Madison, WI, Amanda Genovese (Matt), Hillsborough, NC, Great Granddaughter Amelia Gilmore (Madison, WI). Brother Edgar Weber (Dorothy), Azle, TX, Gary Woodward (Rebecca), LaVonne Goodwin (Woodward), and many nieces and nephews. Ruth is predeceased by her husband Belvin Woodward, brother Paul (Arvilla) Weber, brother Harold Weber (Betty), Charlotte Woodward (Dehnel/Ray).
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 P.M on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Pastor Cathy Iverson will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date at Wild Rose Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at Holly’s.
