Posted

Waupaca football started the 2024 season off slow, but in the second half of the Comets schedule, they started to turn it on. They won three of their last four regular-season games to reach the WIAA playoffs. Running back Xzaver Pittman was the consistent force in those games, averaging over 138 yards and finding the end zone seven times.

Pittman rushed for 1219 yards and 14 total touchdowns in 2024 and accumulated 2826 rushing yards and 33 total touchdowns for his high school career.

A University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh football commit, Xzaver was a football fan before playing, “I watched a lot of NFL growing up and watched YouTube videos and always wanted to play football.”

Xzaver, who is also a standout in track & field in the 100m, 200m and 4x4 believes his competitive spirit has set him apart in his athletic career, “The skill levels of each sport, I’m a competitive person, so I want a challenge and will never back down from trying to be great in the things I do. Since I have been a naturally gifted athlete, so using my gift makes sports enjoyable.”

Pittman getting stronger as the game went along was his best quality, “Dominate all 4 quarters to not let one play define you and just to not give up halfway through.”

Xzaver will have plenty of memories from his career, one stands out to him, “The most memorable part of my senior year was winning our homecoming game and having the student section rush the field after our win. My school hadn’t won homecoming in five years, so it was a good night.”

Teammates and coaches have helped Xzaver along the way, “Memorable coaches and teammates, my football coach Bennett Hansen and my RB coach Barrons and QB coach Krcmar. They became guys who elevated my game and taught me a lot. On top of that, my teammates my friends Andre Hendrix and Austin Adamazak as well as Owen Hansen our linebacker, and my WR Westin Laurizten have been my side. We stuck together in my last season and wouldn’t want anybody else but them."
