Lillian Ella (Johnson) Ziebell, 102, of Waupaca passed away Friday, December 27, 2024 peacefully at Bethany Home, Waupaca.
She was born in the Township of St. Lawrence, Ogdensburg to Nels Peter and Olga (Christensen) Johnson.
At the age of 5 her family moved to the Crystal Lake area, Dayton Township, Waupaca County and from there she lived her entire life within 4 miles. As a farm wife she moved back and forth on the farms 5 times within a mile. She had walked 1-1/4 miles to the Crystal Lake Elementary 1-room country school and graduated after 8 grades. She married a former school-mate Edward W. Ziebell on January 12, 1943 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church that she remained a dedicated member of until her passing. She and Edward enjoyed together farming, gardening, canning produce and their floral gardens. They roller rink skated with family and friends for 30 years (1960-1990s) and enjoyed traveling. She and Edward got to many states, to Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Denmark and Norway. In 2002 Lillian became interested in writing and shared her memories and cherished current events through her poetry. She kept daily calendar diaries that the family often referred to, loved nature and feeding her birds and enjoyed reading. She doctored for Rheumatoid Arthritis since 2001, but never let it get in her way.
When she became a resident at Bethany Home assisted living January 4, 2023 at 100 years of age she loved putting puzzles together, chatting with residents and visitors, phone calls, Tv, and watching nature views out of her windows.
Survivors are her daughter, Linda (Jerry) Cummings, Wautoma; son, Wayne (Chris) Ziebell, Rothschild; grandson, Alan (Kate) Ziebell, Waupaca; and 3 great-grandsons, Preston, Forrest, and Sawyer; granddaughter, Ann (David) Kramer, Mosinee; and 3 great-granddaughters, Magdalen, Katelyn and Jacqueline; other dear family, friends, neighbors and her dear Bethany Home Family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ziebell; her parents and her father and mother-in-law, Rhynie and Emma Ziebell; an infant son, William Ziebell; daughter-in-law, Carol Ziebell; grandson, Andy Ziebell and a great-grandson, Brendan Kramer; paternal step-siblings and a maternal step-brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Ethel Christensen, brother and sister-in-law Harry and Velma Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Gordon Hansen and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Phillip and Violet Ziebell.
A Funeral Service for Lillian will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupaca. A Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the time of Service at church. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to Lillian’s Memorial, that would benefit various organizations that were important to her.
