Waupaca celebrates first taste of summer

Strawberry Fest set for June 15

Strawberry Fest will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 15.

The festival features a large arts and crafts and vendor area with 150 booths.

A variety of food options will be available and strawberry shortcake will be the highlight.

The event will take place at 316 Jefferson St., Waupaca, near Trinity Lutheran Church, and will utilize several streets and parking lots in the vicinity.

Dizzy D. Balloon Twister will be on site .along with other family friendly activities such as children’s carnival rides sponsored by Victory Church and bounce houses sponsored by Faith Community Church.

The Nic Rossi Xperience band will perform 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church will have a silent auction and bake sale fundraiser for their youth group. St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will host a bake sale and refreshments in their Prayer Garden.

Nearby will be the Waupaca Farmers Market on East Fulton Street near City Hall.

The Historic Soo Line Depot, located at 525 Oak St., will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16.

The Historic Hutchinson House will be open from 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16, at South Park.

The Waupaca Lions Club will host their Father’s Day Fly-In/Drive-In Pancake Breakfast at the Waupaca Municipal Airport from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday, June 16.

Many Waupaca area venues will also have entertainment throughout the weekend.

An estimated 9,000 people attend the one-day festival. Strawberry Fest has been held here since 1989.
