Colden, Joyce V.

Joyce V. Colden, age 89, New London, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at Bethany Home, Wau-paca. Joyce was born on January 4, 1921, in Black Creek, daughter of the late Rudolph and Anna (Lillge) Burmeister. She was united in marriage on December 17, 1939, to Oakley Colden. He preceded her in death in 2000. Joyce formerly worked for Montgomery Wards, Max Bassewitz, Culligan, Fay R. Smith and Markmans Department Store. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and was an avid Packer fan. Joyce is survived by daughters, Betty (Mike) Ferris, Scio, Oregon; Salle Rystrom, Bogalusa, Louisiana; Peggy (Jim) Nichols, New London; Jacqueline (Bill) Snearly, Wild Rose; a son, Michael (Carmen) Colden, Fremont. Ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a special friend, Marlene. Besides her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by a son, Glenn, two sisters, Regina Kalwitz and Ruth Drews, two brothers, Edward Hoerning and Gordon Burmeister and a grandson, Michael Colden. Funeral services for Joyce were held Monday, October 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. Brian Hennig officiating. Burial was in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London. Visitation was held on Sunday at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. and also at the church Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
