La Verne and Hazel Madson celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Oct. 10 with a small reception given by their children and grandchildren at Bethany Pines Assisted Living in Waupaca.
They were married in Waupaca on Oct. 12, 1940, at the Waupaca Baptist Church. Evelyn (Madson) Knight and Maynard Nelson were their attendants.
Also married at the church the same day and time were Hazel’s brother and cousin.
La Verne and Hazel lived and farmed in the Waupaca-Amherst area all their life. They are retired farmers and now reside at the Bethany Pines apartments in Waupaca.
They have five children, 15 grandchildren (one deceased), 24 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
