Winchester presents old-fashioned Christmas

Winchester Academy will present a nostalgic look at Christmas at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at the Waupaca Area Public Library.

The featured speaker, Rochelle Pennington, will talk about holiday shopping at F.W. Woolworth and the Sears & Roebuck catalog, Tinker Toys and Erector sets, and the songs of Bing Crosby and Perry Como.

Pennington is an award-winning writer, newspaper columnist and speaker. She is the author of The Christmas Tree Ship, Believe in Yourself, The Golden Formula and Reach for the Stars.

The elementary school choral group, under the direction of Laura Leder, will sing Christmas carols at 6 p.m. Pennington’s presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m.

This program is sponsored by Ann and Vance Linden. It is the last Winchester Academy program for the fall series. Information on the winter-spring 2011 series will appear in the County Post in January.
