Four Waupaca wrestlers picked up pins Thursday, Jan. 6, but the Comet wrestling team still came out on the short end of a 60-24 score.
Bohdi Gust pinned Paul Hagglund at 112 pounds in the Eastern Valley Conference dual meet, Levi Petroske pinned Ethan Springstroh at 119, Cody Houtman pinned Dustin Jansen in 1:30 at 130 and Brandon Palmer pinned Wade Osterberg in 2:49 at 145.
Half of Freedom’s points came on five forfeits.
Freedom’s wins came on Derrick Simpson’s 12-2 decision over Dalton Stelzner at 103, Chad Verhasselt’s pin of Kelly Lind in 2:45 at 125, Adam Philibeck’s pin of Mitch Molder in 3:49 at 135 and Austin Vosters’ pin of Brady Spaulding in 1:42 at 152.
The Comets will host Clintonville tonight (Thursday, Jan. 13) for Parents’ Night. Junior varsity matches are set to start at 6:30 p.m., followed by varsity matches at 7 p.m.
Waupaca will also head to New London for the Cutler Bulldog Classic Saturday, Jan. 15. Matches are set to begin at 10 a.m.
