Letter Carriers Annual Food Drive May 14

The National Association of Letter Carriers in cooperation with the National Rural Letter Carries Association and the U.S. Postal Service will hold their 19th annual nationwide food drive on Saturday May 14, 2011. Clintonville local 1890 will be one of more 1500 local NALC branches in over 10,000 cities and towns across America that will participate in this years drive. In addition, rural carriers serving the communities of Clintonville and Bear Creek will be collecting items as well. .All items collected will be turned over to the Clintonville Area Food Pantry. Last year, a record of over 5000 pounds of food items were collected locally and donated to the Clintonville Area Food Pantry. Nationally, the effort sponsored by the Letter Carriers union collected over 73 million pounds of food, making it the largest one-day food drive in the country. Since its inception in 1993, over 982 Million pounds of donations have been made to community food banks and pantries around the country as a result of the letter carriers efforts. Your local letter carriers encourage your participation by placing non-perishable food items (no glass) in a sturdy bag by your mailbox for collection on Saturday May 14th. Your letter carrier, assisted by retired postal workers, will pick up your donation and deliver it to the local food pantry. Please help us help our community.
