The Clintonville Chapter of Shadows on the Wolf hosted the Learn to Hunt Program on March 31 and April 1 at the Caroline American Legion Post 456 building.
Prior to hunting, participants enjoyed time in a classroom learning about turkeys, how to hunt them, and reviewing safe hunting practices. They then spent time at the shooting range working with their mentors on perfecting their patterns and shooting techniques.
The hunt took place March 31 and April 1 on private land through the permission given to the hunters by many participating landowners. Despite the challenges of hunting in the cold and rain, 48 participants took 22 birds.
Additionally, as the event wrapped up, everyone took home great memories and a new appreciation for the outdoors.
The group appreciates Tom and Mike Mijal, the event leaders. Committee members, sponsors, mentors, landowners, organizers, food staff, supporters and other volunteers came together to make the event possible again this year.
