Tennie, Kathleen M.

We have lost our Irish Rose. Kathleen Mary Tennie (Crain), age 85, New London, was born to eternal life July 26, 2012, surrounded by her family. Kathleen was born in the town of Lebanon, daughter of Arthur and Margaret (Loughrin) Crain on October 23, 1926. After graduation from Washington High School in New London, she worked in Appleton. On October 16, 1948, she was united in marriage to Arnold Tennie at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Lebanon. They farmed in the town of Maple Creek until their retirement in 1981 when they moved to New London. Kathleen’s family was the center of her life. A perfect day was when children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled her home. That was why Christmas, which included presents for everyone, was her favorite holiday. She enthusiastically attended concerts, sporting events, and graduations that involved her grandchildren. Many looked to her as the source of information of the Crain and Loughrin clans. Sewing, quilting, crocheting, baking and playing bridge were activities that kept her busy. Kathleen made dresses, quilts and Christmas stockings. She and Arnold took advantage of their years of retirement by traveling, golfing, and being there for others. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Arnold and their eight children: son, David (Sue) Tennie, New London; daughters: Jane (John) McConnell, Fond du Lac; Ann (Jim) Klatt, Little Chute; Mary (Glenn) Van Handel, Shiocton; Barb (Ron) Steffanus, New London; Margie (Glen) Herzfeldt, Little Chute; Kathy (Joe) Diedrich, Appleton; Connie (Dick) McClone, New London. Twenty-two grandchildren: Katie (AJ) Krause, Michael (Niki) Tennie, Shawn (Kerri) Tennie, Sara (Travis) Bellile, Molly and Daniel McConnell, Jennifer (John) Simonsen, Jessica (friend Sean) Klatt, Michelle (friend Parag) VanHandel, Stephanie (Spencer) Imhoff, Ryan (friend Rachel) Van Handel, Emily and Haley Steffanus, Eric (Katelyn) Herzfeldt, Scott and Amy Herzfeldt, Laura (fiance Jordan Gibson) Diedrich, Andy Diedrich; Kyle, Kara, Kelly and Kevin McClone. Eight great-grandchildren: Connor, Jack and Grayson Tennie; Taylor and Kamryn Krause; Kathryn, Andrew, and Caden Simonsen. Brothers: Bob Crain, Bill (Suzie) Crain; sister Marie (Judd) Jagoditsch; sister-in-law Mary Fran Crain; brothers-in-law: Leonard Tennie and Clair Flease. Kathleen is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
