Lewis, Ilda

Ilda Lewis, age 91, formerly of Neenah, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI.

She was born in Ogdensburg, WI on March 4, 1921, the daughter of the late Hale and Kittie (Edminster) Knutson. On July 4, 1941 she married Kenneth Lewis in Waupaca. In addition to enjoying family get-togethers, her favorite things to do were knitting, crocheting, oil painting and crafts. She was a long time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Neenah, participating in several of the women’s ministries. She was also an active member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and a Girl Scout leader for many years.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharon (Peter) Bartman of Appleton and Sue (Ken) Weir of Waupaca; five grandchildren: Jack (Margaret) Bartman, Julie (Mark) Ban, Kurt (Tammy) Weir, Kim (Jerry) Juve and Kelly Weir; nine great-grandchildren: Bridget and Samantha Ban, Amber, Kyle and Kelsey Weir, Derek, Kendra, Karissa and Kourtney Juve. Ilda is further survived by a sister, Audrey Pogue of Kentucky and a sister-in-law Ella Lewis of Clintonville, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Lewis, a sister Donna (Handrich) Neuman and a brother Mervil Knutson; brothers-in-law, Orville Handrich, Kenneth Neuman, Clifford Pogue, Clifford Lewis and Gary Arndt; sisters-in-law, Joan Knutson and Lorraine Arndt.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca, with Chaplain Wayne Schwanke officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King at a later date. The family would like to thank all of those working on the 5th floor of Stordock Hall, as well as the recreation staff, for the loving care they gave both of their parents during the last four years.
