Prinsen, Dorothy J.

Dorothy Joanna Prinsen, age 89, went to Heaven early in the morning on October 11, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born on February 28, 1924, in Racine. Due to her young mother’s passing and her father’s reckless ways, Dorothy grew up at Taylor Orphanage in Racine. As coincidence would have it, her future husband Tony Prinsen, also grew up there. They were married on August 25, 1945 in Racine. Not long after, the family of 8 was started. Even though she didn’t have a mother for a role model, she became a role model for her kids. We never had monetary riches, but we were rich in love. Dorothy was quite the fisherwoman. Many memories were made, by fishing in “The Alley” with grandma and grandpa. She loved to go to rummage sales and said, “You never know what you’re gonna find”. She was a stay at home mother, until the children were in school and then took a part time job at the Reminder.

Dorothy will be sadly missed by her children: Sandra (Luke) Luedtke; Sherry Prinsen; Tony (Connie) Prinsen; Patty (Bob) Weber; Joy (Norm Walbruck) Prinsen; Penny (Brian) Siewert. Grandchildren: Christopher (Cindy) Prinsen; Laurie Shaw; Shannon (Greg) Klatt; Corey (Yvonne) Prinsen; Michelle (Eric) May; Ronald (Heidi) Bovee, Trevor, Matt (Adrian) Weber, Kevin Weber; Jodi (Matt) Young; Tracy (Craig) Hoffman; Norm (Heather) Walbruck; Jamie (Jolene) Walbruck; Delos (Rachel) Luedtke; Tawny Siewert and Brent Siewert (special friend, Ashley). Thirty-six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois (Jay) Clark; a sister in-law, Ruth Steibel and daughter in-law Carole Prinsen. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tony, a son Tom Prinsen, baby daughter Cindy Sue, granddaughter, Tara Walbruck, two brothers, Ed and Clarence Steibel and a sister Geraldine Walters.

Funeral services for Dorothy were held on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial was in the Mosquito Hill Cemetery, Town of Liberty.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Residence for the wonderful care given to our mother and for putting up with all of us! Special thanks to Carissa and also Heartland Hospice Lori and Tanya.
