Winning streak ends for Weyauwega boys

Stevens Point Pacelli held on to first place in the Central Wisconsin 8 Conference boys’ basketball standings Feb. 14 with a 71-37 win over Weyauwega-Fremont.

The win snapped the Indians’ three-game CWC-8 winning streak. W-F also picked up recent wins over Bonduel and Manawa.

Pacelli 71, I-S 37

WEYAUWEGA – The Cardinals took an 18-10 lead into the second quarter and outscored the home team 21-13 in the second quarter to take a 39-23 halftime lead.

Pacelli also outscored the Indians 10-8 in the third quarter and 22-6 over the final eight minutes.

Aaron Schroeder and Lincoln Van Cuick led W-F with eight points each, while Brett O’Sullivan scored 17 points to lead Pacelli.

W-F 58, Bonduel 56

BONDUEL – Van Cuick scored a game-high 21 points Feb. 11 to help lead the Indians to the win on the Bears’ home court.

W-F led 15-12 after one quarter, 27-24 at halftime and 42-39 after three quarters.

Schroeder and Bryce Akey also finished in double figures for the Indians with 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Zach Zernicke led Bonduel with 18.

W-F 73, Manawa 47

MANAWA – Any thoughts the Wolves had of knocking off the Indians Feb. 10 didn’t last long, as W-F outscored the home team 19-6 in the first quarter.

The Indians also led 41-17 at halftime and 58-30 after three quarters.

Dan Prillwitz led all scorers with 18 points for the Indians, while Van Cuick chipped in with 15, Dylan Pankow added 13 and Schroeder finished with 12. David Blum led the Wolves with 12 points.

The Indians will wrap up the regular season at 7:30 tonight (Thursday, Feb. 20) at Iola-Scandinavia.
