Peskie, Dorothy E.

Dorothy E. Peskie, Almond, Wisconsin, age 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, WI. 

Dorothy was born on October 16, 1921 in the Town of Buena Vista, Portage Co., WI, daughter of Alfred and Edna (Boushley) Wanty. She attended Madley County School through the 8th grade and graduated from Amherst High School in 1939. On November 28, 1940, Dorothy married Donald T. Peskie at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in the Town of Lanark and together they shared 48 years of marriage before his passing on June 15, 1989. Dorothy worked for 11 years in the food service department at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. She was active in the Ladies Sodality at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church helping with funeral lunches and dinners, and also was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 339 of Almond. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, playing cards, dancing, and watching the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers. She will be deeply missed by all of her loving family and many friends. 

Dorothy is survived by: children: James (Judy) Peskie of Waupaca, WI; Debra (James) Toya of Corrales, NM; Lawrence “Lorrie” (Jeanne) Peskie of Waupaca, WI; Timothy (Thelma) Peskie of Uvalde, TX; John Peskie of Almond, WI; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Arylene) Wanty of Waupaca, WI; sisters: Norma Schultz of Waupaca, WI; Mary (Paul) Frazer of Bowie, MD and Shirley (David) Strange of Appleton, WI. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Edna Wanty; her husband, Donald T. Peskie; a son, Donald J. Peskie; a daughter, Jean M. Peskie; two granddaughters, Tonya R. Peskie and Stephanie M. Peskie; four brothers, William, Leor “Bud”, Lloyd, and Raymond Wanty; and two sisters, Marge Pryse and Phyllis Stiebs. 

A Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, located on State Hwy 54 between Waupaca and Plover. Father Jim Trempe will preside. A visitation will be held on Friday evening, November 14th, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca with a Rosary Service to be held at 6:30 p.m. A visitation will also be held on Saturday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Lanark following the mass on Saturday. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
