Deangelo L. Fonder, 19, Weyauwega, is charged with felony battery by a prisoner.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, corrections officers at Waupaca County jail responded to a fight in a third-floor dayroom. They reported finding one of the inmates crawling toward his cell, while Fonder was on the floor pulling him back by his legs.

According to the criminal complaint, a security video of the incident shows Fonder and the other inmate sitting at different tables in the dayroom. They appear to exchange words, then Fonder gets up and approaches the other inmate, who attempts to walk away.

Deputies reported that Fonder bumped the other inmate with his shoulder, returned to his seat, then stood up and lunged toward the other inmate. The two grappled and exchanged punches, then fell to the floor with Fonder allegedly on top of the other inmate, hitting him.

The injured inmate was later taken to the hospital for treatment of abrasions on his back and bite marks on his shoulder.
