Polar Bears split two games

The Polar Bear’s two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning was just what the doctor ordered for a 5-4 conference victory over Fond du Lac on Friday, May 22.

The Polar Bears led for most of the game but found themselves one run behind after giving up three runs in top of the fifth inning.

Jonny Van Liere earned the win from the mound after closing out the final two innings.

Polar Bear Joe Cliver lead Hortonville at bats going 4×4 with a double, one RBI and one run. Ty Dreier went 1×4 with an RBI. Braden Van Camp went 1×3 with an RBI and a run. Mike Gross went 1×3. Carter Beaudoin and Bryce Cross each had an RBI.

Hortonville 1, Appleton East 2

The Polar Bears had a tough time hitting Appleton East pitcher Austin Meyer on Thursday, May 21. Meyer struck out nine batters and gave up only three hits for the win.

Hortonville scored their only run of the game in the first inning.

Appleton East scored one run in the first and one run in the fourth inning.

From the plate, Reece Frederick went 1×3 and scored one run. Carter Beaudoin went 1×1 and Jake Sommers went 1×1 with a triple.

The team travels to Fond du Lac on Tuesday, May 26 and hosts Oshkosh West on Thursday, May 28.
