Iola defeats Menomonee in five-inning game
Iola’s American Legion baseball team took on Menomonee June 23 at Taylor Field in Iola and handed the Indians a 14-3 five-inning loss.
Iola took a 7-0 after three innings, but the Indians came up with three runs in the fourth. However, Iola responded with seven more runs in the bottom half of the inning.
John Prahl, Cam Gruenwald and Hunter Gruenwald each had three of Iola’s 17 hits, while Kal Fischer and Jayden Sivertson added two each. The team’s 17 hits came in 27 at-bats for a .630 team batting average.
Cam Gruenwald held the Indians to four hits and struck out six batters.
