Truckers girls’ swim team takes first against six schools

The Clintonville Truckers girls’ swimming team won the Bay Conference Relay hosted by Sturgeon Bay at the Door County YMCA on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Clintonville won the meet with 88 points. Sturgeon Bay took second with 78 points and Shawano/Bonduel claimed third with 58 points.

Another local team, the New London Bulldogs, took fifth out of six teams.

The Truckers finished first in the 200-yard medley relay, 450 freestyle relay, 750 freestyle relay and 200 reverse freestyle relay. They finished second in the 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle relay and 200 fly relay.

“This is the type of meet where we were able to show the depth on this team,” Truckers swimming coach Lee Wetzel said. “This was a great team effort.”

New London’s best performances were a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle relay and third in the 300 backstroke relay.

The Truckers will host a dual against Marinette Thursday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs will host a dual against Wittenberg-Birnamwood the same night, also at 6 p.m.
