New London girls win in Little Chute

By Scott Bellile

Although the New London girls’ basketball team came home from Little Chute with the win Dec. 22, Bulldogs varsity head coach Troy Krause said it wasn’t a smooth victory.

“It was a game in which we struggled to play with consistent intensity,” Krause said. “When we did, the girls were able to do some good things and build a couple nice leads. But moving forward, we will need to find a way to play a complete game and keep our intensity high throughout.”

The Bulldogs led 26-19 at the half and went on to win 50-42.

Leah Porath was the Bulldogs’ highest scorer for the night with 18 points.

Stat leaders
Scoring: Leah Porath 18, Kate Christian 12, Kali Rohan 7.

Three-pointers: Christian 2, Porath 2, McCoy Mix 1.

Conference standouts
According to Bay Conference girls’ basketball statistics, New London senior Marina Solberg ranks third in the conference for assists and freshman Kate Christian ties for fifth in steals.

Solberg has produced 14 assists so far in conference play. Christian has recorded 10 steals.

Presently the Bulldogs rank fourth of eight teams in the Bay Conference with a 2-2 conference record.
