Thunderbirds defeat the Tigers

The Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbird girls’ basketball team claimed another victory Tuesday, Dec. 29, when they defeated the Tigerton Tigers 61-29 in Iola.
The T-Birds out-scored Tigerton 29-12 in the first half of the game, led by Leighten Fischer who scored 11 of her 22 points.
Fischer kept the momentum going into the second half and added 11 more points for the Thunderbirds while Kaylin Ellioff poured in 7.
Lonna Minniecheske led all scoring for the Tigers, scoring 13 points, followed by Katrina Parrot with 6 and Monika Minniecheske with 4.
Fischer scored 22 points for the Thunderbirds, while Ellioff added 11 and Kendall Johnson 9.
The T-Birds will be back in action on Jan. 8, when they host the Pacelli Cardinals.
