Boelter, Laura K.

Laura K. Boelter, age 64, of Mauston, died on Monday, March, 21, 2016.

She was born on August 2, 1951 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joe and Doris (Jacobson) Tapp and was baptized at United Methodist Church Memphis, TN. Laura attended grade school at Atwood Heights Elementary School, and later graduated from Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in 1969. On November 19, 1973, Laura married Wally Boelter in Tinley Park, IL. Laura was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield. She was involved with Christ Lutheran PTG for 20 years, serving as President, working with Field Day, and drove for most of the field trips (Chinese fire drills). Laura and her sister-in-law, Colleen were also involved in Lutherans for Life. From 1982- 1998, Wally and Laura raised veal calves, starting with 50 calves. Over the years a barn was added and the number of calves rose to 222, earned the name Operation Veal 222. In 1994, Laura attended Fox Valley Tech to decide what she wanted to be when she grew up, and took a phlebotomy course. She then started working at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca until she and Wally moved to Mauston in 1999. She then worked at Mile Bluff Medical Center, and also worked at Land’s End in Reedsburg for five years. Wally and Laura enjoyed working on their cabin in West Bloomfield since 2002. They also enjoyed cross country skiing, which turned into snowshoeing with friends, Diane and Tom, Jerry and Joy, and Bob and Colleen for over 30 years. Together, they all shared lots of laughs, fun times, and stories. Laura enjoyed birthday dates with her children, and loved her times as a “fun grandma”, as well as celebrations that involved family, friends and DQ!

Laura is survived by her husband of 42 years, Wally; five children: Nickie (Matt) Tessen, Jeni (Jim) Robbert, Mandy (Jeremy) Zastrow, Joe (Stacey) Boelter and Jacob (Amber) Boelter; nine grandchildren: Guy Tessen, Seth Stanick, Jordan and Alivia Zastrow, Eli, Skylar and Bryson Boelter, Alexis Boelter and Whyatt; her mother, Doris Tapp; her sister, Sandra (Jim) Gurgel; two brothers-in-law, Bob (Colleen) Boelter and Stan (Patti) Boelter; two sisters-in-law, Sue (Tom) Utecht and Sharon (Mark) Otte; nieces and nephews: Steve (Tammy) Gurgel, Marc (Teresa) Gurgel, Josh, Matt, Chantel, Adam, AJ, Jared, Kyle, Renee, Aimee, Tracee, Crystal, Cody, Sam and Heather. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Tapp and her father and mother-in-law, Carl and Bernice Boelter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 11a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, N6412 State Rd 49, Weyauwega (West Bloomfield). Pastor John Taggatz will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, 4-7 p.m. at the Lewin Funeral Home and on Friday, at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for Christ Lutheran Christian Life Center.
