Lorraine Ann Jelinski, age 80, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Father Mark Miller will officiate. A private family burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Nekoosa. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, 2201 Chestnut Street, Wisconsin Rapids and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.
Lorraine was born May 17, 1935 in the town of Lanark, Portage County, WI to William H. and Ann S. (Lawrence) Rosin. She married Benedict L. Jelinski on January 8, 1957. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1998. Lorraine was a school teacher and taught at St. Lawrence Catholic School in Wisconsin Rapids for two years and at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Nekoosa for 33 years. She enjoyed being a teacher and valued education. She also enjoyed gardening and preserving vegetables, reading, playing cards and spending time with family. She served as both a Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout den leader. She was an active volunteer for the Wild Rose Hospital Auxiliary.
Lorraine is survived by three children: Carol A. (Gary) Collins of Rudolph, Conrad J. (Joni) Jelinski of Wisconsin Rapids, and Deborah S. (Dale) Simonson of Wautoma; stepson, Lyon D. (Virginia) Jelinski of Wisconsin Rapids; daughter-in-law, Antoinette Jelinski of Schofield; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four siblings: William (Pauline) Rosin of Ogdensburg, Gilbert Rosin of Wautoma, Carl (Christine) Rosin and Roger (Carol) Rosin of Wild Rose; and a sister, Shirley (Lee) Jackson of Ontonagon, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Benedict Jelinski; son Rodney, stepson Jerome and stepdaughter, Joyce Finnessy; granddaughter, Jamie; great-granddaughter, Sydney; and four siblings: Lawrence Rosin, Virginia Clavette, Joyce Nelson and Ramona Rosin.
Lorraine’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Aspirus Riverview Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Lorraine’s family to start a scholarship fund for students who are aspiring to become teachers.
