Two athletes crack WisSports top 10

New London soccer players recognized for efforts

Two New London soccer players rank in the top 10 on Wisconsin Sports Network for their performances so far this spring.

Following a 4-3 New London victory over Shawano Tuesday, May 17, Bulldogs goalie Liz Tank ranked fifth in the state for saves.

As of Wednesday, May 18, Tank had 150 saves under her name and was eight saves away from No. 4-ranked Sara Klimisch of Kenosha Indian Trail.

Marina Solberg ranked sixth in Wisconsin for goals (28) and seventh for points scored (65) as of Wednesday. Solberg was three goals below from Emily Cervantes of Catholic Memorial and three points away from Mackenzie Scholz of Kimberly.

In Tuesday’s home game against Shawano, Solberg produced a goal and an assist while Tank had five saves.

Other contributors to New London’s scoreboard were New London’s Lili Gould with two goals, Macy Madsen with one goal and Kassy Hoewisch with an assist.

New London maintained a lead the entire game, ahead 2-1 at the half. New London took nine shots on goal and Shawano took eight.

Following Tuesday’s game, New London ranked third in the Bay Conference with a 3-3-3 record, according to Wisconsin Sports Network. West De Pere (7-0-2) leads while Seymour (3-1-3) ranks second.
