Two charged with battery

A fight between two roommates resulted in felony charges against both of them.

Ryan D. Ehrfurth, 23, and Christopher D. Balsewicz, 23, are charged with substantial battery and disorderly conduct.

Shortly before 8 a.m. on May 27, Waupaca police and Gold Cross Ambulance were dispatched to the Waupaca County jail.

They found Balsewicz and a small child at the jail, both covered in blood. The child was not injured, but Balsewicz had a cut to his temple that was bleeding profusely.

At the same time, Ehrfurth was at the hospital receiving stitches for a large laceration on his arm.

According to the criminal complaint, the two men were roommates at the Tower Road apartment building. A verbal altercation escalated into a physical fight, and they allegedly cut each other with broken glass.

After the fight, Balsewicz walked to the jail for help, and Ehrfurth went to the hospital.

As a condition of his $1,000 cash bond, Ehrfurth was ordered to have no abusive contact with Balsewicz. He has since relocated to Fremont, according to court records.
