packer-lorraine-2Lorraine E. Packer, Amherst, Wisconsin, age 99, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Iola Living Assistance in Iola, WI.

She was born April 23, 1917 in the Town of Amherst, Portage Co., WI, daughter of Elmer and Pearl (Rollefson) Johnson. On July 16, 1933, Lorraine married Claire D. Packer in Amherst and together they shared 58 years of marriage before his passing on October 15, 1991. She was a lifelong member of Nelsonville Lutheran Church, member and past president of the Nelsonville Ladies Aid, member of the Sons of Norway, and was the Nelsonville Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Lorraine will be deeply missed by all of her loving family and friends.

Lorraine is survived by: children: Barbara Ogden of Manchester, IA; Evelyn Lee of Plymouth, MN; Richard (Linda) Packer of Amherst Jct., WI; Peggy Packer of Amherst, WI; Jean (Terry) Schwirtz of Almond, WI; Judy (George) Konkol of Amherst Jct., WI; Nancy Packer of Portland, OR; daughter-in-law, Jerrilee Packer of Rockhill, SC; grandchildren: 20, great-grandchildren: 44; great-great-grandchildren: 36; brother, Reverend Roger (Karen) Johnson of Brandon, SD. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Pearl Johnson; her husband, Claire Packer; one son, Gary Packer; one son-in-law, Harold “Bud” Lee; one grandson, R. Scott Packer; one great-grandson, Joe Carlson; one sister, Aileen (Welton) Alm; and four brothers, Norris (Alice) Johnson, Harold Johnson, Donald (Mary) Johnson, and Reverend Eldred (Orpha) Johnson.

A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Nelsonville Lutheran Church in Nelsonville, WI. Rev. Dwight Anderson and Rev. Brian Konkol, officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Nelsonville Lutheran Cemetery following the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in the name of Lorraine E. Packer. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
