Sarna to be keynote speaker

Master Sgt. David Sarna, of Manawa, is the keynote speaker for the Veteran’s Day program at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in the gymnasium at Little Wolf Junior/Senior High School.

Sarna served in the United States Army in both active and reserve duty capacities from August of 1989 through last October, at which time he retired. He was stationed stateside and served overseas tours in Germany.

While engaged in the War on Terrorism, Sarna was mobilized four times and deployed three times, serving tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
On two of these deployments, he was dedicated as an embedded trainer for both the New Iraqi Army and the Afghan National Army.

Sarna has been awarded the Bronze Star medal, the Legion of Merit and the Joint Forces Commendation medal for his work with foreign armies, among many other awards.
