marion-mathewsonMarion R. Mathewson, age 91, New London, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at her residence.

She was born July 20, 1925 in New London, daughter of the late Andrew and Treasure (Reed) Huebner. Soon afterwards she became a child of God through the water and Word as she was baptized at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London. Her faith in her Savior Jesus continued to be nourished and on April 6, 1941, Marion publicly confessed her faith as she was confirmed at Emanuel. Marion was a resident of New London and member of Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church all of her life. She also was a member of Ladies Auxiliary, VFW, Red Hat Society, AAL and worked the election polls for many years. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling and line dancing with her friends.

Marion was united in marriage to Richard Mathewson on September 7, 1946. Their marriage was blessed with twelve children: Portia Dahly, Donald (Lynn), Daniel (Greg), Patti Anne (Bill) Toston, David (George), Garry (Mary), Douglas (Shirley), Richard Jr. (Tammy), Roger (Kathy), Nancy (Jon) Stege, Cindy (William Sr.) Bauer, and Kenneth (Jamie). She was also blessed with step-daughter Margaret Anne (Steve) Albrecht, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friend, Cle Popke. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Sally, Louis, and Deb and a brother-in-law Tom. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Mildred and Margaret, brothers, Donald, Frances, and Russel.

Funeral services for Marion will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. Mark Tiefel officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery, New London

Marion’s family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Trinity Terrace, ThedaCare Hospice nurses, ThedaCare Medical Center and Physicians, especially Chris Klimek for the care and love they showed our mother

A memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
