Wiegert, Edsel A.

Edsel A. Wiegert, 90, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living.

He was born on September 29, 1926 in Fond du Lac, a son of Arden and Ida Kessel Wiegert. On February 18, 1950, he married Virginia L. Stelter at Church of Peace, UCC, with Rev. Karl Koehler Sr. officiating. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2006. Edsel was a lifelong owner and operator of his own dairy farm. He had a great love for his farm and John Deere tractors. He enjoyed square dancing and loved polka music. He so enjoyed long truck rides and spending time with his loving daughter. He was a member of Church of Peace, UCC, Lakeside Twirlers, The Grange, and Waupun Prison City Squares.

He is survived by a daughter, Leasa (Jim) Lefeber of Fond du Lac; three step-grandchildren: Tammy Lefeber, Tracy (Mike) Abler, and Tyler Lefeber; six step-great-grandchildren: Taylor (Samantha) Nett, Kyle Nett, Adam Nett, Austin Nett, Paige Abler, and Emily Abler; a sister, Marilyn (Frank) Ossian of Appleton; a brother, LeRoy (Georgia) Wiegert of Ogdensburg, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews: Nanci (Bobby) Buchanan and their children: Kimberly and Stuart Doering of Spring Green, Shari (Kent) Curtis and their children: Amanda and Jacob Adkins and their daughter, Ella Rose, and Clint Curtis of Eagle River, Ed Bemis (Patti’s husband) and their daughter Ava Bemis of Plainfield, Illinois, Karen Ossian of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, David (Chela) Wiegert and their children: Graciela and Gabriel Wiegert of Plymouth, Minnesota, Peter (Nancy) Ossian and their children: Cole, Katie, and Eric Ossian of Denver, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia; a sister, Eva (Phillip) Hasch; a sister-in-law, Joann (Herbert) Johnson; and a niece, Patti Bemis.

The visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac, and from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Church of Peace, UCC, 158 South Military Road, Fond du Lac. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Church of Peace UCC with Rev. Jennifer Dawson and Rev. James Martin officiating.
