Victim flown to Neenah hospital

A 12-year-old boy was shot in the shoulder by his 14-year-old cousin.

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting the incident shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday.

Deputies responded to the scene in the town of Bear Creek. They and Bear Creek First Responders provided first aid to the victim until Clintonville Ambulance arrived.

The boy was transported by ambulance to ThedaCare in New London, then flown by helicopter to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.

Waupaca County Sheriff Brad Hardel said the boy is in stable condition.

“Our hearts go out to everyone involved in this tragic situation,” Hardel said.
