Motorcyclist killed on Highway 54
A Michigan woman died in a two-vehicle crash in the town of Liberty on Tuesday, July 4.
The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the crash on State Highway 54 east of Lower Road at 4:12 p.m.
The 55-year-old Michigan woman was driving a motorcycle east on Highway 54 when, according to witnesses, she began to pass another vehicle and struck a westbound SUV.
The motorcyclist died at the scene. She was wearing a helmet.
The 22-year-old New London man driving the SUV was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Highway 54 was closed for three hours following the crash. The sheriff’s department was assisted on scene by Shiocton-Bovine Fire Department as well as local ambulance and first responders.
