Soup in Art Bowls

Final annual event set for Oct. 7

The Waupaca Community Arts Center will present its last annual Soup in Art Bowls from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Waupaca Train Depot.

This last soup event is being sponsored by Community First Credit Union.

Soup will be served at 11 a.m.

The event will feature four kinds of soup: vegetarian gumbo, chicken booyah, broccoli cheddar and corn chowder,

The cost is $20 and includes a hand-painted bowl, choice of soup, rolls and homemade desserts.

Beverages will be available at an additional cost.

Another option for individuals and groups is to go to the art center by Sept. 29 any time it is open to paint a bowl.

The cost is $20, which includes paint, firing and lunch on Oct. 7.

New bowls are ready for purchase every few days.

The center is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

The bowl is the ticket to the event. Bowls may also be available on the day of the event.

In addition to the $20 cost, there will be a $5 paper bowl option for children accompanied by paying adults.

There will also be takeout soup available for $6.50.

Memorabilia from the railroad depot will be for sale.

A portion of the proceeds from Soup in Art Bowls will support the historic Waupaca Train Depot, which is located at 525 Oak St.

This event will occur during the Hidden Studio Tour.

The model railroad is set up in the basement of the depot and will be operating for anyone who wants to take a nostalgic trip back in time. Since the art center will be closing in November, its final four-day sale will be Nov. 16-19.

There will be everything from works of art to fixtures and anything not nailed down available during the sale.
