Manawa drops finale to Bonduel

By Holly Neumann

The season ended on a down note for the Manawa football team. Bonduel handed the Wolves a 48-18 loss Oct. 13 in Manawa’s final game of the season.

It didn’t take long for the Bears to make their presence known, as Elijah Mastey scored on the game’s first play and kicked the extra point to give the visitors an early 7-0 lead.

Mastey went on to score two more times, along with Isaac Boldt and Isaac Garside, who each added a touchdown for the Bears.

With 9.6 second left on the clock in the first half, Manawa’s Nate Reynolds intercepted Cole Anderson’s pass and returned it 82 yards to cut the Bears’ lead to 35-6 at the break.

Jordan Boldt found the end zone for the Bears in the third quarter to start a running clock for the remainder of the game.

Manawa quarterback Mason Wiesner scored in the fourth quarter, but the Bears answered with a score of their own as Boldt returned the kickoff 84 yards for Bonduel’s final points.

Garrett Bristol scored for the Wolves with just over a minute remaining in the game.

The Wolves finished the season with a 2-7 record.
