I-S wins two of three

Kisting leads T-Birds over Mustangs

The Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team added another win to its record Jan. 4 with a 44-21 nonconference win over Marion.

The Thunderbirds also split recent games with Bowler and Shiocton.

I-S 44, Marion 21
Bryanna Kisting’s 16 points helped the T-Birds take a 21-11 halftime lead over the Mustangs.

Kisting led all scorers with 19 points and had a team-high seven steals, while Emilie Briquelet and Hannah Melum added nine points each. Briquelet grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds and Melum and Katie Cherek added eight and seven, respectively.

Abby Polzin led Marion with eight points.

I-S 40, Bowler 30
The T-Birds went into the locker room Dec. 21 with a 14-12 halftime lead, but outscored the Panthers 26-18 in the second half.

Kisting led three I-S players in double figures with 12 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and three assists. Melum added 11 points and had seven rebounds, while Briquelet finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Kaitlyn Miller added nine rebounds and four steals and Erika Kisting also had four steals.

Bowler’s Reanne Kietlinski led all scorers with 20 points.

Shiocton 52, I-S 26
Shiocton handed the T-Birds a Central Wisconsin Conference East Division loss Dec. 19.

The Chiefs outscored I-S 33-15 in the first half and 19-11 in the second half.

Melum and Briquelet led the T-Birds with eight points each, while Payton Wester had a team-high nine rebounds.

Tina Ubl and Skylor Bruns led Shiocton with 16 and 10 points, respectively.

The T-Birds are now 5-5 overall and 1-4 in division play. I-S will head to Bonduel Tuesday, Jan. 9, for a 7 p.m. East Division matchup with the Bears.
