T-Birds notch 10-5 win

Iola-Scandinavia’s baseball team scored the first seven runs May 7 in a 10-5 win over Weyauwega-Fremont.
The Thunderbirds came up with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and added two more in the second and third before the Indians cut into the lead with three runs in the fifth.
I-S answered with a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to go up 10-1, while W-F scored single runs in the sixth and seventh.
Carter Kurki, Connor Kurki and Bryce Huettner each had two of the T-Birds’ 13 hits and Carter Kurki struck out five batters over six innings to get the win on the mound.
In other recent games, the T-Birds split a pair of games with Amherst May 3 and picked up a pair of wins over Menominee Indian May 4 and May 1.
